Tim Russert on Media Bias

Bernard Goldberg says that "Russert Took Media Bias Seriously", and used the phrase "preferred positions" to describe these views.

I like that.

I try not to be too judgmental about media bias; without sounding like an ass, I think a lot of the media can't be blamed for this because they don't even understand that they might be bias.

The analogy I like is to personal ads. You hear stories of people who say they are not picky, but their personal ads specify in minute detail the sort of person they are looking for. Then they wonder why they're lonely.

Many members of the media are the same way: they don't see themselves as biased just because their preferred positions are pro-choice, anti-gun, Malthusian environmentalism, and so on. Then they wonder why they're lonely when it comes to ratings.
