Tucked halfway through an otherwise charming piece from The New York Times on what to do in Amarillo:
This may be just as well with some Amarillans, who are a culturally obstinate breed (many city restaurants still have smoking sections, for example).
D'ya think that reporters from Amarillo travel to New York and remark about the culturally capricious natives who won't even let smokers form a private club where they can smoke and eat indoors?
FWIW: I've never had a bad time in New York, but I didn't even slow down on my only trip through Amarillo.
