You can create a table in Word without using the ribbon.
Just use the pipe and hyphen to type something like this:
|-|-|-|
And when you hit enter Word will create a blank table of analogous bordered cells for you.
It’s kludgy, but I could actually use this to create small tables – I do this a lot to make headers and footers look neat.
