Most of know that Columbus didn’t think the world was flat, and many know that no one else did either.
What I didn’t know is that the myth that “everyone” thought the world was flat was started by Washington Irving in his biography of Columbus.
That people believe otherwise was listed in 1945 by the Historical Association (of Britain) as the second of 20 in a pamphlet on common errors in history.
