Here’s a thought: Ken Rogoff.
He’s both apropos – like Thaler and Shiller – but also actually offering something a bit more predictive and constructive about the ongoing crises.
He’s not at the top of the list … but the committee has been known to select people that might eventually get a prize earlier than seems right because they are timely (think Krugman).
REPEC has him at 24th for cites, and his recent co-author Carmen Reinhardt at 39.
P.S. My earlier Nobel predictions didn’t include Michael Jensen or Soren Johansen. Now they do.
