An unplanned in-the-wild test by a blogger for ZDNet showed that the free Microsoft Security Essentials caught something that 60% of the available anti-virus services missed (and many of them cost some simoleons).
In particular, McAfee, which has publicly dissed Microsoft’s free program was one of the ones that failed.
BTW: our IT guys recommended dropping McAfee and switching to Microsoft on our personal systems earlier this year. It’s worked out fine, and I like the fact that Microsoft doesn’t bug me as much as McAfee did, or load crapware.
