The vector of choice for the bad guys is now PDF files, which have been trending up for years.
This is mostly because when people receive a PDF attachment, they don’t think twice about opening it.
Microsoft has done much better with policing Office files, which are now almost risk-free.
FYI: No doubt the choppiness of the graph indicates the introduction of new malware exploits followed by software upgrades.
