A friend recommended this as her favorite book: she bought one for MJ, and I picked it up for free from FeedBooks for my Kindle.
The price was about right.
I slogged through the book over the space of about 5 months. I could have gone faster, but it was a struggle.
I’m used to reading classics, so its turgidity was OK.
But, I really felt that the entire story line was childish. It’s the great novel equivalent of the scene in A Christmas Story where Ralphie opines that every kid dreams that one day they’ll all be sorry.
The book is 100 pages of bad luck and conspiracy, 100 pages of prison redemption, and 800 pages of slow moving revenge.
