For $1 you can get 100 pages of any book scanned.
I sent my first book out yesterday. It’s a weird feeling. The reason it’s so cheap is that they use a bandsaw to remove the binding of the book, before putting the pages through an automated sheet feed scanner. Then they recycle the book. So, it’s weird to say goodbye to a book forever.
Since this is the first time, I chose something I wouldn’t miss. I love old atlases — with names and borders that no longer exist — and amongst my late father’s stuff was a mildewed Hammond atlas from 1960. Off it went.
