I’ve never been a British minimalist — one of those who believe that the Romano-Celtic influence is dominant in Britain. Now genetic evidence confirms that the UK is a lot more German than we thought:
What strikes me most about this is the wide areas of England (and Belgium!) that are significantly more German than most of France: Normandy is less German than most of the island of Britain.





The thing you need to remember about this is that while the Y (ie, from the male side) might be German, it's also from those who just couldn't wait to get out of Germany.
So the English are actually descended from the Germans who didn't want to be Germans.
