I learned that the spelling is with an “mn” rather than an “mm”. Most people say this is wrong.
So I looked it up, and it turns out that spelling it with an “mn” is an alternative spelling that took place — probably for no good reason — in the northeastern U.S. in the mid 19th century.
Living in the Buffalo suburbs until I was almost 25 explains my spelling.





I'm from Ohio, schooled there in the 1950s and 1960's. And "dilemma" just looks RIGHT somehow, and "dilemna" just looks WRONG.
Dammit.
