Economists regard immigration as trade in labor.
The Feds spend $18B a year on policing immigration (mostly at the Mexican border).
The Feds spend less than that (about $14B) on all other forms of enforcement.
Of course, do keep in mind that most law enforcement is funded at the local and state level, so this doesn’t say as much about law enforcement as it does about trade restrictions.
Kind of sick, really …
