Did you ever notice that logic underlying central planning is the same one at the foundation of creationism? Namely, that a certain degree of centralized decision making is required to come up with anything complex.
This is a stunning example of unresolved cognitive dissonance, because of course the central planners and the creationists don't think they have anything in common. For that matter, that part of the political spectrum where the spontaneous order of evolution is most accepted is the least likely to understand and support the spontaneous order arising out of free markets and voluntary exchange.
Sometimes you just have to follow the links to find interesting stuff. This all started yesterday with this post at Newmark's Door which recommended this post entitled "60 Second Refutation of Socialism, While Sitting at the Beach" from Coyote Blog. Thing is, I read this when it was originally posted about 5 months ago, but I reviewed it and down at the bottom there was an update with links to the other items. One of those was the post entitled "Economic Creationism" at Spontaneous Order as well as one of the strongest arguments I have ever seen for the invisible hand, the Foundation for Economic Educations "I, Pencil". And that essay mentioned G.K. Chesterton, who also came up in an Asymmetrical Information post entitled "A really, really, really long post about gay marriage that does not, in the end, support one side or the other" that I linked to in a post called "Marriage and Bundling" - so I guess I'll have to add him to my reading list too.
