I've now been through a second complete year on Seth Roberts' Shangri-La Diet.
I gave a positive report after one year.
After a second year I'm supposed to give you a second report that I've gained all the weight back.
Sorry about that - I've had only the smallest rebound. Maybe I'm wrong, but I attribute that to not having played a raquet sport on Saturdays in the last 9 months.
I still have no confirmable side-effects. I had a couple of cavities - that might be something. I think I'm more inclined to doze off when I'm tired, but that could be middle age too.
I haven't been able to push my weight consistently lower than 90% of what it was before I started. Part of this is almost certainly living with kids, and not being able to resist the junk around the house. Part of it is also insufficient exercise. But, an important third part is that I'm still only doing 2/3 of what Roberts' recommends; frankly, I think I could drink more sugar water and eat even less dinner, but there might be unrest in the house if I did.
N.B. I still think of incorporating an oil into my regimen instead of sugar water. I live in the desert, and it would probably help with dry skin.
