I didn't even know this was a movement until having my first kid and suddenly being asked by all these "progressive" parents if we were planning on vaccinating. As a cross-reference, I recommend the following article from comedy website Cracked.com:

Jenny McCarthy, the leading light of the anti-vaccination movement, actually believes she was one of the very first indigo children (item # 5 in your link).

As to the "progressives", I think we have large facets of the population that haven't been trained to think critically and neutrally about data. Heck, they prefer anecdotes, so they've even got problems with data. I think this is what we get for decades of letting people view education as a set of preferences they can satisfy, rather than as a set of tools to help society.
