Gary Becker's point about prostitution. For the bulk of the market, pretty much low skill labour. but it pays much better than other low skill labour. Why?

Opportunity cost.

And a use3ful check on this is that people do tend, if they're going into it, to go into it away from their home area. Next town over perhaps, these days next country over even. Because that reduces said opportunity cost.

One can say, sure, I worked in real estate sales in Dubai (lots of Russians and Ukrainians) instead of I was selling sex just down the street.
