Interesting. Just tried the search for glass on DuckDuckGo - the Wikipedia page for the material is the third returned result, following an ad-link for "Glass Online" and a link to the 2019 movie Glass on IMDb. The link to the article on Britannica appears lower on the first page.

Also confirmed your results for Google. Noticed a lot of local glass repair shops mixed in with search results past Page 1, so what you see will be affected by where the search engine thinks you are. This is what advertisers are paying Google to do for them.

Bing had similar results to DuckDuckGo, but also heavy emphasis on local glass repair shops on the first page, but those were additional links and not provided in place of basic search results (ala Google).
